Last night I was fortunate enough to attend the world premiere of the new Wes Anderson movie Fantastic Mr. Fox. It was definitely worth digging out the old tux for. If you liked any of his previous movies you should definitely find a few things in this one to make you smile – just the art and craft alone has got to be worth the admission price. Out in the UK on 23rd October.

I watched A Boy and His Dog for the first time last night, mainly because it stars Don Johnson and I liked the posters. It’s set in 2024 and features Don and his telepathic dog on a quest to get laid – before getting kidnapped by some strange people who want him to impregnate their women folk – all in the wake of World War 4. It’s bonkers, and not always in a good way. Still think the posters are great though.

I attended a 3D screening of the new Disney/Pixar movie Up tonight. I guess as we’d expect by now, the animation and visuals are truly incredible. The story itself goes through all the usual, heart-warming Disney emotions, but it’s really the art of it all that stuck me most. And this isn’t necessarily down to the 3D stuff (which can feel a bit gimmicky in places), I think it will be just as beautiful in 2D, and certainly more comfortable than wearing cheap plastic glasses all the way through. Due out in the UK on the 16th October. Official site here.

I was sitting behind the Brothers Quay on a flight recently and it reminded me that I really should have some of their work on here. I love this style of animation, and along with Jan Svankmajer they are the masters I think!

We’ve created this illustration for the UK poster of Mid August Lunch directed by Gianni Di Gregorio. Out in a few UK cinemas this week. It will probably pass a lot of people by, but it’s a simple, yet enjoyable movie and is probably worth a look if you get the chance.

We’ve contributed some custom type for the titles used on this new Béla Tarr boxset to be released in the UK soon.

Quite a bad trailer, for quite a good film (well, I liked it). Unfortunately, I hear the dreaded Hollywood remake is due in 2010.

I like the movie, but I like the trailer for it even more.

One of the best movies ever made??
