Graphisme Utopique vs Architecture Radicale

Graphisme Utopique vs Architecture Radicale

Next Friday we open a new solo exhibition in Nantes. The show will be in two parts and split between L’Espace LVL and Maison de L’Architecture des Pays de la Loire. Titled ‘Graphisme Utopique vs Architecture Radicale’, the exhibition will primarily explore the influence of Architecture in our work over the past 10 years (yes, it’s been that long!).

It’s our first real solo exhibition since 2009 so we’re really excited about this one. There will be a range of work on show, both old and new, so if you’re in the area it would be great to see you at the opening. Above is the poster for the show and flyer for more info.

Lucifer is back…

We’re very excited to have a very limited re-release of our ‘Lucifer’ jacket for Sixpack France. Designed as a tribute to the jacket worn in Kenneth Anger’s 1972 masterpiece Lucifer Rising, the original release sold out long ago, and has since become one or our most requested pieces. This new release is limited to less than 100 worldwide, and we have a few available in our shop now.
Also available in-store exclusively at Citadium Paris.

NB Studio - This Year...

NB Studio – This Year…

We were very happy to design this limited edition print for the 2013 edition of NB Studio’s ‘This Year…’ project. The prints are sent to friends and clients of the studio annually, and this year included prints by us, Supermundane, Jonathan Burton and Katie Scott. The theme for this latest edition was Mars Exploration, so we proposed this hopeful little chap as he dreams of what lies ahead.

Berberian Sound Studio – Opening Credits

Lovely opening credits by Julian House (music by Broadcast) for the Peter Strickland movie Berberian Sound Studio. Such a shame his posters for the film never quite made it to print in their original form.

Merry Christmas

Seasons greetings one and all. We’ll be back for more next year please.

Oskar Fischinger – Experiments in Cinematic Abstraction

There’s a lovely exhibition on right now at the EYE Filmmuseum in Amsterdam on the life’s work of German film-maker Oskar Fischniger. ’1900-1967 – Experiments in Cinematic Abstraction’ explores everything from the early experiments right through to the more accomplished shorts and the special FX work for the likes of Fritz Lang. Fischinger may not have been totally appreciated in his own lifetime, but his body of work went on to influence some of the great moving image artists that followed including Harry Smith and John Witney. It’s a fascinating exhibition and a unique chance to see the films up on big screens. Also accompanying the video work are personal letters, animation cells and a few large-scale oil paintings which are pretty great in their own right. The exhibition runs until 17th March 2013 and highly recommend if you’re in Amsterdam. The EYE and Centre For Visual Music have also published a nice book to accompany the show which is available at the EYE now and will receive wider distribution by Thames & Hudson in January.
